Why have I chose the genre Alternative?

I have chosen the genre Alternative Indie Rock because it allows me to explore a wide variety of artists within the genre. It includes a lot of different genres within it such as indie, rock, dance ect. and I feel it is a solid base to begin and focus on. It also gives a much easier choice of what song my final piece includes.

Challenging the style of The Neighbourhood

I went out and videoed a clip of a song called 'Sweater Weather'. Here are some screenshots of how I tried to use the style of their video.

At the beginning a title comes up with simple black text and a white background and I particularly took a liking to this so I included it in my video.

The lead singer fiddles with his hair in a shot and I un-intentionally filmed a shot extremely similar so I added it into the video.

As you can see I took inspiration in the white cinematic border for a nice effect that I really like and thought complimented the black and white effect on the video which was also taken from

the original video. I used close ups of the lead singer as they appeared in The Neighbourhoods video.

Ideas

I have juggled about with many different ideas for some time on what genre and kind of music video I really want to create. I have found great difficulty in this as I have a love for so many different genres and artists in the music industry and have a particular liking for many various styles of music video, such a following a story line ect. or simply creating a random video with no actual relation to the song it is for. I have been watching so many different videos and picking out certain aspects that I find interesting and effective that I may be able to take inspiration from or directly use in my own work.
